Islamabad, Jan 28 : Police
arrested a 52-year old self styled Pir at Mattan here in held Kashmir district
for allegedly raping a minor girl.
A police official said that a girl,
according to doctors, is 8 months pregnant and is expected to deliver the baby
in February, after which a DNA analysis will be conducted to ascertain the
facts.
Self styled Pir Muhammad Yousuf Bhat, of Utteresoo, Shangus,
presently residing at Tulla Haar village of Aishmuqam has married thrice and has
eight children with some grand-children too.
He used to frequently visit
victim’s house on pretext of providing the household benefits of his spiritual
powers.
“He visited many household in the area and had a large number of
followers including the victim’s parents,” a police official said.
He
said that some 9 months back the accused visited the victim’s house and finding
her alone there he allegedly raped her.
“The girl, aged 13 complained to
her mother about the incident; however her parents were not ready to accept the
fact given their faith in the Pir and his spiritual powers,” police official
said.
After the girl complained of some abnormalities her family took her
to the same Pir again, “The self styled Pir assured the parents that everything
is alright and threatened the girl of dire consequences if she disclosed the
incident to anyone,” a police official added.
Things, however, got
clearer when the girl complained about the abnormal size of her belly and was
taken to a doctor, where an Ultrasound revealed that she was 8 months
pregnant.
Following the confirmation by the doctors the victim’s family
lodged a complaint in Mattan police station against the accused.
“An FIR
No. 02/2013, under section 376 of the RPC was lodged by the police and the
accused was arrested from a house in Mohripora village of Achabal area,” a
police official revealed.
