Islamabad, Jan 21: Residents of this held Kashmir town have complained of the lack of
urinal facilities and public lavatory.
“The town being largest in the
state and a hub of commercial activities sans any urinal facility and lavatory
as a result of which people have to face tremendous hardships,” said the
residents.
They said that due to the absence of urinals people are forced to
urinate on road sides which later gives pungent smell, attracts insects and
stray animals and becomes the cause of various diseases.
“The Municipal
Council Anantnag is the largest in the Valley and generates lot of revenue but
that ironically is being paid as a salary to the employees in the council who
have been appointed fraudulently rather than being utilized for development of
town,” said a resident, Muhammad Altaf.
He said the authorities should
immediately construct urinals and public toilets near busy markets and
hospitals.
“There is an urgent need of constructing public toilets and
urinals at General Bus stand, Achabal Adda, Lal Chowk and near District hospital
and Maternity and Children hospital,” opined the residents.
Residents
have sought the intervention of DDC, Islamabad into the
matter.
